The restrooms at Deadwood’s iconic Saloon #10 were – to put it kindly – rustic. Maybe not outdoors like a proper outhouse, but they had that kind of ambiance. We’d post a YouTube video but you wouldn’t want to watch it, and no one thought to make that kind of movie. iphones weren’t invented yet and no one wanted to stay in those restrooms any longer than absolutely necessary.
Finally, in 19xx during Deadwoods transition from near ghost town to near Little Vegas, the family that owns “The Ten” decided to splurge on a restroom upgrade. It was such a big deal that they had an open house and restroom tour. It was well attended and the upgrades much commented upon. No record exists of whether there were any “how to” demonstrations.
